The market
Brazil built the most successful instant payment system in the world and consumers adopted it almost universally. PIX now reaches roughly nine in ten adults and has taken a commanding share of e-commerce, while credit card share declines. Brazil alone accounts for the large majority of real-time transactions in Latin America.
What we would tell you
Launching in Brazil without PIX forfeits the majority of potential deposits. Boleto still serves the cash-preferring long tail.

Moving value out
Workable with structure
Collecting here is not the hard part. This rating describes repatriation.
Collection is trivially easy; getting value out is where the work is. FX settlement runs through regulated channels and the rules changed materially in 2026.
Digital assets
Resolution BCB 561 bars eFX providers from settling cross-border remittances in stablecoins or crypto from 1 October 2026. Licensed VASPs under the broader framework retain a narrower path. Algorithmic non-fiat-backed stablecoins are prohibited outright. If your Brazil plan assumed stablecoin settlement, it needs revisiting.
